The Missoula Art Museum has put out a call for artists for this year’s Artini auction, which takes place in February of 2010. (For those like me who haven’t yet wrapped their minds around this, 2010 comes in just about a month!?!)

As seems to be the case every year, they’ve changed things up for the Artini auction. Last year it was the whole “Artini: In Your Face” thing, which I covered live. This year, the theme is wearable or otherwise functional art.

Here’s the art call; the deadline for submissions from artists is Dec. 1.

The 5^th Artini Auction: Wear Oh Ware – CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

In the spirit of Artini, this year’s auction will once again have a fresh style and unique format.  The Wear Oh Ware auction will feature handmade art objects; the twist is that it all be functional – wearables to wares – toys, furniture, teapots – the only limitation is the functional expression of you!

MAM is now accepting submissions of functional art objects, one of kind or multiples will be considered as long as they are handmade by you.  If you create functional art, we’d love to see it.

The works in Ware Oh Ware Artini Auction will be exhibited in the Carnegie Galleries as part of The 2010 Benefit Art Auction Exhibition, featuring all the work from the 38^th Benefit Art Auction as well.

On Artini Thursday, February 18, MAM will host a special Artists Reception and the Wear Oh Ware live auction! This fun, high-energy event will feature delicious hors d’oeuvres, live music and cash bar. The 2010 Art Auction Exhibition will be on view this evening with pre-bidding taken throughout the festivities.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: DECEMBER 1, 2009

Notification will be emailed by December 14, 2009

You may submit up to two works for consideration, and up to two images of each work. Please do not send more than four total images.

Attach your images in JPEG format only to you email.  Please label your files with your last name and the title of the work. For example: Calsbeek_birdhouse or Calsbeek_birdhouse_detail

In the body of the email include ALL OF THE FOLLOWING information:

DONATION – 100% – 75% or 50% (percentage taken from final sale price)

Also include a BRIEF BIOGRAPHY (include where you are from and your education/background, what you currently do) and ARTIST STATEMENT.  Please keep each of these under 250 words.
