Leon Russell, Five Finger Death Punch announce Missoula dates

On Wednesday, concert promoters Knitting Factory Entertainment and Jade Presents separately announced a pair of performances that will take place within two days of each other in late October. But it seems unlikely that penny-pinching music fans will need to make a tough decision between the two, as they represent far poles of the contemporary popular music realm. [Read More...]

Garrison Keillor to return to the Adams Center

The last time Garrison Keillor came to town, the whole world heard about it. In October, the host of NPR’s popular radio variety show, “A Prairie Home Companion,” will return to Missoula for a spoken-word performance at the Adams Center; and this time, what happens in the Adams Center stays in the Adams Center.

Tickets to the performance go on sale Friday morning at 10 a.m. via Griztix outlets including Griztix.com, the Adams Center Box Office, and by phone at 1-888-MONTANA., at a price of $50, $45, and $40 plus fees, with all seats reserved. An Interview with Wilco’s John Stirratt

I had the pleasure to talk for about 20 minutes earlier this week with Wilco bassist and founding member John Stirratt. (Wilco appears at the Adams Center this Sunday, Feb. 7, at 8 p.m.; tickets are still available here)… [Read More...]

A Prairie Home (Hi-Def Digital Satellite Simulcast) Companion

Andrew Morris, the guy who has brought the Metropolitan Opera’s “Live in HD” simulcasts to Missoula’s Roxy Theatre, is venturing into some new territory next Thursday with a hi-def screening of a live taping of Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” The Missoulian previewed the screening earlier this month; but this week the lineup of guests was finally announced. I thought I would pass it along. For those who missed Keillor’s live broadcast from Missoula’s Adams Center back in 2006, this should be your next-best thing to experiencing the show in person….I can say, having attended that broadcast, the creativity and improvsational flair of the show is all the more remarkable to witness in person. Califone to open for Wilco

Those headed to the Feb. 7 performance by Wilco at the Adams Center may be interested to know that Califone recently signed on to the tour as the opener. I suspect there’ll be no small handful of people who go to the show specifically to see them; I’d say it’s the most intriguing [...]
